Visiontree, a leader in cloud-based, patient reported outcomes, patient engagement, population health and multi-center research/registry solutions, is pleased to announce that the Visiontree Optimal Care™ (VTOC) platform was selected for use by The University of Kansas Cancer Center for use at its multiple cancer center facilities.

The adoption of use of electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROs) has been growing significantly with the requirements of MACRA for Advancing Care Information and Improvement Activities integrating ePROs for quality patient engagement in the clinical workflow, as well as improving compliance for participation in multi research and registry initiatives. Most notably, in oncology, integrating patient reported outcomes as a standard of care is also demonstrating improvements in cancer survival using web-based patient reported outcomes to improve survival benefits by five (5) months. (see: ASCO 2017 Abstract)

By utilizing VTOC’s significant library of over 200 validated electronic patient reported outcomes integrated into clinical pathway and research protocol templates, the cancer center care providers plan to collect clinician and patient-reported outcomes with disease-site specific quality of life assessments at specified timepoints in the clinical workflow and through cancer survivorship to improve the quality of patient care.

We looked for a platform to enhance our ability to deliver advanced, quality care with a patient-centered approach in every aspect of the care, treatment and research experience. Our goal is to have Visiontree provide us with the ability to begin effectively tracking outcomes standard sets in oncology, expand to other medical conditions, and enhance our workflow for high patient engagement and compliance.

Implemented at 400+ oncology programs and 600+ sites globally, including 8 of the top 10 U.S. News and World Report Hospitals, with 2.5M+ patients, the VTOC platform provides a seamless solution for longitudinal, electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROs) data collection and integrating MACRA quality measures. VTOC delivers automated reporting of this electronic quality of life data at specified timepoints as actionable data to, as well as reporting to multi-institutional research and registry initiatives, including export to the Medidata Rave®, the database for NCI’s National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).

We are excited to be working with the cancer team at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. They have developed a leading-edge institution we are proud to partner with. With the cancer center Visiontree intends to establish a Center of Excellence and key, thought-leading site for on-going development, research and training. As VTOC is used by leading institutions nationally and globally, we are looking forward to working with The University of Kansas Cancer Center to providing patient-centered outcomes, integrated care and research solutions for the rapidly evolving value-based healthcare ecosystem, cancer survivorship and population health data management.

With over a decade in clinical use, VTOC has documented improvements in patient care and the clinical workflow; including up to 20% reduction in non-urgent phone calls, up to 30% improvement in missed appointments, over 30% increased patient satisfaction, and over 40% improved compliance for capturing longitudinal ePROs. VTOC helps providers in delivering risk-adjusted outcomes data, on an individual patient or an aggregate level, for an optimized delivery of quality and efficiency in on-going patient care, research and global benchmarking.
